Nakauvadra Students' View of Fijian Culture

Highlights:

Welcome to Union College's digital ethnography of the Rakiraki area, Viti Levu. During a three month term abroad ten Union College students are living with Fijian families and experiencing village life. Under the direction of Professor Steve Leavitt and Karen Brison the students are learning effective research methods and conducting their own individual research projects.

This website explores the cultural identity of Fiji through the perspective of local Fijians and American College students. The term abroad students and members of the Rakiraki village were instructed in the use of digital cameras and camcorders with the goal of recording their reactions and experiences. Through photos, videos, audio interviews, and field notes, this site provides a unique comparison between a native view and an American student view of Fijian culture.
